So how do you grow your hair faster?
1. Keep your hair moisturized like you keep your body hydrated.
In order to grow longer natural hair, you need to moisturize. Your hair thrives on water. Spray your hair with a little Moisture Me or water and avocado oil before you sleep. MOISTURIZE GUYS! I really feel like we neglect our hair when it comes to moisture (and no, oils are not moisturizers, only water-based products are).
2. Use a good sealant like shea, cocoa or mango butter to deep condition weekly.
We are HUGE fans of the LOC method. Remember the LOC method? Liquid (leave in conditioner, or water-based spritz) Oil (Jojoba, castor, coconut or an oil of your choice) and Cream (a heavy butter to seal in the moisture). You can also try the LCO method, which is just Liquid, Cream and Oil.
3. Trim your hair when needed- when you have split ends and unhealthy ends.
Sometimes you only need to trim once a year. Make sure that you trim your hair when you see that your ends are unhealthy or breaking. If your hair is breaking constantly, you might need to start doing monthly protein treatments. Monthly protein treatments help to build, strengthen and grow longer, healthier natural hair.
4. Avoid shampooing often, but if you do, use sulphate-free shampoo.
You can also pre-poo. Ah, yes pre-poo i.e. condition your hair with oils and conditioner before you wash it, so the shampoo doesn’t strip your hair dry.
5. Try water-only washing weekly.
Instead of using shampoo, you can use water only, or if you have a lot of product buildup, why not try African black soap or a clay wash. Lawdddy! Clay has incredible healing properties – especially bentonite and rhassoul clay which you can find here or at your local health store.
Some people even prefer mud washes to grow longer natural hair because the mud detoxes your hair and gets rid of harmful bacteria. Are you a fan of mudwashes? It seems a little extreme, but definitely worth it!
